Part I · The Genesis Foundation·7 Prophetic Dyads

Mankind'sOrigin & The Seed

In the dawn of creation and the tragic fracture of the Fall, God immediately encoded the architecture of redemption. Here the New Adam, the New Eve, the uncreated Light, and the Pentecostal reversal of Babel are promised in the foundational types of Genesis.

Evangelization & Typology

History has a plot, and God is the Author.

"A Tiny Box Project is an evangelization initiative dedicated to revealing Christ and His Catholic Church through the systematic study of biblical typology and prophetic fulfillment."

The New Testament lies hidden in the Old, and the Old Testament is unveiled in the New. For the systematic, rational believer seeking profound truth.

Seven Prophetic Pairings in Mankind's Origin

Read each pair as a unified theological dyad: on desktop, fulfillment and prophecy stand side by side; on mobile, fulfillment appears first.

Pair 1A

The Word

The eternal spoken utterance that spoke primordial creation into existence becomes incarnate as the True Light shining in cosmic darkness.

The Fulfillment (New Testament)
John 1:1-5 (RSV2CE)
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

The Prophecy (Old Testament)
Genesis 1:1-5 (RSV2CE)
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters. And God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day."

Pair 1B

The Spirit

The divine breath of Yahweh that imparted living soul into dust is renewed when the Risen Christ breathes the Holy Spirit into the Apostles for the forgiveness of sins.

The Fulfillment (New Testament)
John 20:19-22 (RSV2CE)
"On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, 'Peace be with you.' When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.' And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit.'"

The Prophecy (Old Testament)
Genesis 2:4-7 (RSV2CE)
"These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created. In the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, when no plant of the field was yet in the earth and no herb of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground—then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being."

Pair 1C

The Fall

As through the transgression of the first Adam condemnation and mortality flooded creation, so by the obedience of the New Adam grace and justification reign in life.

The Fulfillment (New Testament)
Romans 5:12-17 (RSV2CE)
"Therefore as sin came into the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all men sinned... If, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ."

The Prophecy (Old Testament)
Genesis 3:1b-6 (RSV2CE)
"He said to the woman, 'Did God say, "You shall not eat of any tree of the garden"?' And the woman said to the serpent, 'We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden; but God said, "You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die."' But the serpent said to the woman, 'You will not die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.' So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, and he ate."

The Woman

The Protoevangelium foretells the perpetual enmity between the serpent and the Woman whose Seed will crush Satan, fulfilled in Mary and the birth of the Messiah.

The Fulfillment (New Testament)
Revelation 11:19a; 12:1-6a, 10ab (RSV2CE)
"Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple... And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; she was with child and she cried out in her pangs of birth, in anguish for delivery... she brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron."

The Prophecy (Old Testament)
Genesis 3:14-19 (RSV2CE)
"The Lord God said to the serpent, 'Because you have done this, cursed are you above all cattle, and above all wild animals; upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.' To the woman he said, 'I will greatly multiply your pain in childbearing...'"

Pair 1E

The Flood

The baptismal waters of the Deluge cleansing an ancient corrupt world and the dove descending with an olive sprig prefigure Christ's baptism in the Jordan and the advent of the Holy Spirit.

The Fulfillment (New Testament)
Mark 1:6-13 (RSV2CE)
"In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens opened and the Spirit descending upon him like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, 'Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased.' The Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness."

The Prophecy (Old Testament)
Genesis 8:1, 6-10 (RSV2CE)
"But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided... At the end of forty days Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made, and sent forth a raven... Then he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters had subsided from the face of the ground; but the dove found no place to set her foot, and she returned to him to the ark... He waited another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark."

The Tower of Babel

The hubris of Babel that splintered human speech into confusion and mutual isolation is miraculously healed and inverted at Pentecost, where all nations hear the mighty works of God as one.

The Fulfillment (New Testament)
Acts 2:1-8 (RSV2CE)
"When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place... And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance... And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in his own language."
Code Ref: 1F-NT
The Prophecy (Old Testament)
Genesis 11:1-2, 4, 6-9a (RSV2CE)
"Now the whole earth had one language and few words... Then they said, 'Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.' And the Lord said, 'Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language... Come, let us go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.' So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth."

The Abrahamic Covenant

The primordial covenant of promise established in Abraham and the freeborn son Isaac foreshadows the supernatural freedom of the New Covenant realized in the Church.

The Fulfillment (New Testament)
Galatians 4:21-28 (RSV2CE)
"Tell me, you who desire to be under law, do you not hear the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave and one by a free woman. But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, the son of the free woman through promise. Now this is an allegory: these women are two covenants... But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother... Now we, brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise."
Code Ref: 1G-NT
The Prophecy (Old Testament)
Genesis 17:1, 5, 7, 10, 15-16 (RSV2CE)
"When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram, and said to him, 'I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless... No longer shall your name be Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations. And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you... And God said to Abraham, 'As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her...'"
